Mike Rugg and Cliff Barackman
This Monday, July 29th, I am pleased to announce that the cast of Finding Bigfoot will be present at a fundraising event for Mike Rugg's Bigfoot Discovery Museum in Felton, CA.  Bobo, Matt, Ranae, and I will be hanging out at a barbecue hosted at the museum from 4 pm until 6 pm to sign autographs, take pictures, or to just talk about bigfoot.

The admission is free, but a scrumptious barbecue will be happening for the low price of $5.

Everybody loves bigfoot

So if you're anywhere in central California, specifically in the Santa Cruz area, you should drop by and say hello.  I hope to see you there!

London Trackway - Track # 64

Another cast from the London Trackway has been added to the website!  It's slow going, but they'll all be there eventually.

Though it looks a bit bland at first glance, cast number 29 has some extremely interesting features. It is an excellent example of the beauty found in subtleties.

The print's lateral edge impresses the deepest, followed by the heel and ball. The contours on the outside of the foot seem naturally shaped and smooth with a nice roundness to them.

A Bigfoot Poem by Allison

Allison drawing in the sand at outdoor school many years ago.

Before I made television for a living, I was an elementary school teacher.  I largely worked in the upper elementary grades, and the last year I worked in the classroom I taught sixth grade.  After teaching for fourteen years, and one of the great joys of teaching is hearing from former students.

One of my former students, Allison, recently reached out to me.  Allison was a talented writer when she was in my classroom, and apparently she has continued to hone her wordsmithing craft.  Below is a bigfoot poem she was kind enough to compose for her former teacher.  I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Whoosh, crack, crunch,
Something’s on the rush.
Whistle, croak, howl,
We wanna find him, but how?

Look what he’s left behind,
Great big footprints in mud and brine!
Is it false, hoax, or a ruse?
But it could just be the truth!

Is he a lost cousin from the distant past?
Or maybe something only revealed at last?
Oh, these questions spin ‘round and ‘round,
But one thing’s for certain, he’s gotta be found!

But we don’t wanna hunt him with guns and darts,
We’re open to finding with pictures and marks.
So get your cameras, gather your pens,
Let’s go meet nature’s new friend.

He doesn’t exist? How could this be
When we’ve seen the proof right below the trees?
I think he’s out there, just hiding from sight,
All those people must be a fright!

So whether you call him Bigfoot or ‘Squatch,
When you’re in the woods, be on the watch,
He’s there in the shadows like wolves and bears,
And like them, too, be quiet and don’t scare
(Not that he would really care).

- Allison

The Free Gig is Happening!

I will be playing some music this Wednesday at the McMenamins White Eagle Saloon in Portland, OR.  We will be filming for a special behind-the-scenes episode of Finding Bigfoot during the gig, so if you want to hear some good music, and at the same time see a little about how television is made, come on down.  It's free, beer will be flowing, and the venue is legendary (and supposedly haunted!).

Music is happening from 5 to 6 pm, and I'll be lurking around afterwards to do interviews as needed for the episode, but also to chat with folks about music, bigfoot, or whatever.  McMenamins food is excellent, and their beer is even better, so your time will not be wasted.  See you there!

Uncertain, but Probable Music Gig

As many of you know, I have a degree in music and I love to get out and do some playing in public now and again.  I rarely get an opportunity to do so anymore, as I work on the road filming Finding Bigfoot more than I find myself at home being able to practice with the band.   However, this week an opportunity to combine the two facets of my life has arisen.

To augment the Finding Bigfoot series, Animal Planet has produced several "After the Show" episodes which feature our executive producer, Keith Hoffman, giving the world a peek behind the curtain of Finding Bigfoot.  There will be a couple more of these After the Show episodes in the coming season, and they will contain featurettes on the various cast members, much like when we saw Keith and Bobo go crab fishing in the most recent After the Show episode.

This week, they are filming stuff to flesh out a segment on me, and the producers want to have me do a musical gig with my band.  This is tentatively scheduled for this Wednesday at around 5 o'clock here in Portland.  I cannot say where at this point because it has not been confirmed (contracts and lawyers take longer than most folks, including me, would expect).  There will be a production crew there filming the event.

If you would like to come see me play music with my trio early Wednesday evening for free, check my blog on Tuesday for updates.  There is a slight chance it may get cancelled and I'll end up filming this in a practice studio, but the odds are that it'll be a public affair to which all are invited.

What:  Cliff's playing music for an hour
Where:  The venue is still unverified, but here in Portland, OR
When: Wednesday around 5 pm
Why: To film scenes for the upcoming After the Show episodes

Again, this is not happening for sure.  There is a slight chance it could get cancelled.  However, I'll know for sure by Tuesday.  Please check back here on Tuesday for updates!

Bigfoot Trivia - Where is this?

The photograph, taken this past weekend, is of what famous sighting location?
Give an answer by leaving a comment below!

Need a hint?  Here is another picture that makes it a dead giveaway:

Update 7/6
(The Answer)

Some of you guessed correctly in that these photos come from the famous Glen Thomas Site.  This sighting was well documented by John Green, and this location was where Mr. Thomas had the first of several encounters in the areas of the Clackamas and Molalla Rivers.

I was shown the site by the King of the Clackamas, the Clackamaster himself, Joe Beelart.  Nobody knows the Clackamas River and its bigfoot history better than this man, as will be evident when his upcoming book is published describing the bigfoot events documented in this area.

Joe and I filmed a segment for the second volume of Bigfoot Road Trip, which will be out in Winter, 2014.  In the meantime, feel free to pick up a copy of Bigfoot Road Trip Volume 1 and enjoy a sasquatch adventure unlike any other.

Tyler Bounds at the Monroe, WA Library

Tyler Bounds and a friend

Bigfooter, friend of the sasquatch, and "outdoor technician" on Finding Bigfoot Tyler Bounds will be speaking at the Monroe Library in Washington on Tuesday, July 16th.  A nice article was published in the Monroe Monitor and Valley News.

On the trail of Sasquatch: Crew member of the Animal Planet show “Finding Bigfoot” to appear in Monroe
By Polly Keary, Editor

Fascinated by what he believes was an early glimpse of the mythic beast known as Bigfoot or Sasquatch, Tyler Bounds has chased the primate all over Washington, from Sultan and the Sky Valley all through the Cascades and into Eastern Washington.

He never did expect it to be more than a hobby. But as his skills as an outdoorsman and Washington woods expert made him more and more valuable to the community of Bigfoot hunters in the state, his hobby became something more. It became a television career.

Bounds, who became a researcher and crew member on the Animal Planet show “Finding Bigfoot,” will appear at the Monroe Library Tuesday, July 16, to talk about his search for evidence of the elusive hominid, his experience as a crew member on the popular Animal Planet show, and the dramatic evidence he has since discovered that suggests that the creature may, in fact, exist.
